Since the meltdowns, outposts are few and far between. It was said the outposts used to be bigger. Huge buildings. Tons of people. Devices and electronics where you could search anything, talk to anyone. Now, growing up in the blast zones is a death sentence. Even if you’re lucky enough to escape radiation poisoning, every day is still a fight for survival.

That’s why June has to steal. But when Eli is stabbed late night at a party, her nine lives run out as law enforcement pins her with a much more serious charge than petty theft. Locked up for a crime she didn’t commit, she has few options when a mysterious stranger named Nyx approaches her cell and offers her a chance at escape.

But there’s a catch: in exchange for her freedom, June will be expected to act as a supply runner for her organization, the Dragon’s Parliament. Nyx pulls her headfirst into the cryptid world, hidden and protected from the human outposts by Parliament, who maintain this fragile balance. But is Parliament as benevolent as they appear to be, or do they have their own motives?

Throughout Shades of Shadows, follow June as she unravels the truth of her own past, and uncovers the sins Parliament is desperate to keep buried.
